Indescribable Love

May I share with you again from my quiet time and journal? I continue to read through 1 Peter during my morning devotions.

1 Pet 1:8-9 in the Net Bible reads,

You have not seen him, but you love him. You do not see him now but you believe in him, and so you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, because you are attaining the goal of your faith - the salvation of your souls.

Like faith, love does not have to see. When I put my trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, he gave me new life. As I daily walk with him, talk with him through prayer and let him communicate with me through the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, our relationship becomes a deeper love relationship.

I stop and think about the fact that God allows me to have a relationship with Him! This is amazing. This is not just doctrinal belief. It is not spiritual truth I acqiesse to, it is a living love relationship. As I spend time with God, I come to know him: What he is like. How he thinks. His perspective and the ways he does things.

The more I come to know Him, the more I trust Him, and the more I trust Him, the more I love Him.

But one day he is returning! Then I shall see him and know him more fully! Never fully--always growing in full understanding, never arriving. That's part of what eternity is for.

In the meantime, while I wait for the day when I will see Him, I praise Him for His grace and love toward me. I also praise Him because what He has begun in me He will bring to completion sin. He saved from the penalty of my sins when I accepted Christ as my Savior. Now He is setting me free from sin's power. One day, when He returns, He will save me from the presence of sin. Won't that be glorious!
