Ingenuity

I was reading the blog of a friend, Susan, who lives in Spring Branch, near Houston. She and her husband had boarded up their house and faired pretty well through hurricane Ike's rampage. However, they have been without electricity since the storm. In her blog she shared how they cooked the lasagna that was in their freezer by placing it on the head cleaner of their pickup. Theyve also been using an adapter to plug their laptop into the truck's power source.

I've used an adapter in our van several times to power different things while traveling. I have charged the battery on my powerchair, operated a laptop (which I no longer have) and used a heating pad on my neck and shoulders. The adapter has been a good investment; I would not trade for it. However, though, I've heard of cooking food on one's engine, I've never tried it. Pretty smart idea. Oh, the lasagna--it took about 20 minutes to get hot.
