I loved this quote and thought I would post it for your to read. On this day in 1777, hymnwriter John Newton, best known for the hymn Amazing Grace, wrote in a letter:

'God often...takes a course for accomplishing His purposes
directly...contrary to what our narrow views would prescribe. He brings
a...death upon our feelings, wishes and prospects when He is about...to give us
the desire of our hearts.'

I know this has been my experience before. Certainly it was Abraham's experience, as well as, the experience of numerous other biblical characters.
